Frequently Asked Questions

Finding a Therapist

How do I search for a therapist?

Use the search bar at the top of any page, or go to /providers for the full search with all filters. You can filter by city, specialty, insurance, telehealth, sliding scale, OHP/Medicaid, and whether the provider is currently accepting clients.

How does the match quiz work?

The match quiz asks you 3–10 questions about your location, what you're dealing with, and your insurance situation. We use your answers to find the providers who are the best fit — then you decide who (if anyone) you'd like to hear from. No commitment required.

Is the directory free to use?

Yes. Searching, browsing profiles, and using the match quiz are all completely free for clients. We never charge a referral fee or take a percentage of your session cost.

How current is the provider information?

Verified providers (those who have claimed their listing) manage their own profiles and can update availability in real time. Shadow profiles (unclaimed listings imported from public databases) reflect publicly available information and may be less current. Look for the green "Verified" badge to identify claimed, actively maintained profiles.

What does "Accepting Clients" mean?

Providers can mark whether they currently have openings. Filtering by "Accepting Clients" shows only providers with confirmed availability. Note that availability can change quickly — always confirm directly with the provider.

Insurance and Fees

Can I search by insurance?

Yes — use the Insurance filter in the search sidebar. Type the name of your plan and we'll match it against all providers who accept it, including aliases (e.g., "Blue Cross," "Premera Blue Cross," and "BCBS" all show the same group of providers).

What is OHP / Oregon Health Plan?

OHP (Oregon Health Plan) is Oregon's Medicaid program — state-funded health coverage for Oregonians who qualify based on income. When you filter by "OHP / Oregon Health Plan," you'll see all providers who accept OHP, Medicaid, or Oregon Health Plan, since these are all the same program.

What is a sliding scale fee?

Some providers offer sliding scale fees — session costs that adjust based on your income or financial situation. Filter by "Sliding Scale" to find providers who offer this option. You'll need to discuss the specifics directly with each provider.

Do you accept Medicare?

Use the "Medicare" filter in the search sidebar to find providers who accept Medicare. Note that not all therapists accept Medicare — check the provider's profile for details.

Telehealth

Can I find therapists who offer online sessions?

Yes — filter by "Telehealth" to see providers who offer video or phone sessions. Many Oregon providers now offer both in-person and telehealth options.

Can I see a therapist outside my city via telehealth?

In most cases, yes — Oregon telehealth providers can see clients anywhere in Oregon, regardless of city. However, providers must be licensed in the state where the client is located. Check each provider's profile for their specific telehealth service area.

For Providers

How do I get listed?

We import licensed Oregon providers from state licensing databases. Search for yourself at /providers. If your profile is there, claim it (2 minutes). If not, register a new account. New listings are reviewed within 24 hours.

Is listing free?

Yes — a basic listing is always free. Paid tiers (Growth at $10/mo, Pro at $25/mo) unlock leads, analytics, and featured placement. See the full breakdown at /pricing.

How are providers ranked in search results?

Search results prioritize verified providers over unclaimed profiles. Within each group, ranking is based on: featured placement (Pro tier), subscription tier (Pro → Growth → Free), profile completeness score, and a session-stable random shuffle. This means every provider gets fair exposure over time — not just the ones who pay the most.

How do I update my profile?

Log in to your provider dashboard. All profile fields can be edited there with instant save. Changes are reflected in search results immediately.

Privacy

Is my information shared with providers when I use the match quiz?

Only if you choose to share it. After the match quiz shows your results, you decide which providers (if any) you want to contact. If you choose to send a lead, we share your first name, situation summary, and contact info with that specific provider — no one else.

Do you sell user data?

No. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with third parties. Period.
